A Geeky Thanksgiving is hard to come by. Often times it’s spent with family and friends, and you’re not always happy to see them. It’s okay, your secret is safe with me. But either way, it is Turkey day, and it’s time off of work or school and maybe, just maybe, a time to catch up on some books, some television, some movies, or maybe…some Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. No matter how you’re spending this time off, I hope it’s fantastic, fun, and full of love either real, virtual, or otherwise.
And in the time honored tradition of Thanksgiving, I would like to let you all know what I am thankful for. If you don’t know who I am, I am Francis the Other Guy from Geek Love Radio and A Critical Moment of Awesome. AND SPEAKING OF WHICH! The first thing I’m thankful for are those who listen to the podcast and actually read this blog. You all make this all worthwhile, and hopefully it’s providing you with something to think about, something to love about, and something to hate about.
My family, my friends, and my cohosts are all fantastic, and how can I not be thankful for their support, their advice, and their constant nagging…just kidding. Life throws crap your way some times, and there are people who cheer for your fall and your failures, while thankfully, I have others who encourage me to get up again, to help me grow, and to realize that it gets better every moment of every day. That’s especially true about my current “Two Face” condition. My old coworker even got me a coin to flip to make my decisions. Yeah…that’s the support I need.
To Dave the Drummer, Dani the Universe, Lei the Nerdlicious, and Dean the Movie Cynic. You listeners and readers may not see or hear from them all the time, but I do, and I’m thankful to knows such amazing people. Hell, they’re the people who make you guys laugh, who give you the good advice, and make sure I know what the hell is going on.
Lastly, I’m thankful for bad music. How could a holiday be a holiday without music like the following. It’s the reason I enjoy the internet, and why more and more people seem to be finding themselves lost in it. So have a great four day weekend, don’t shop Black Friday, because every deal you want is online and you don’t need to stay in line all night, eat excessively, and enjoy the pie, tolerate the family and friends you’re NOT into, because they’re still cool, even if you can’t admit it, have fun with long, run on sentences and finally, take a break from Black Ops 2 every once in awhile to let people know you’re alive. Seriously, people worry about you. Oh, and please be good and wonderful to each other. (+1 to being Sappy)
