Welcome to the Online Friend Simulator. Because everyone could use a friend, even online. I’m Francis aka The Other Guy.
How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. This is episode 69, and it wasn’t a sexy episode! Instead, I talk about finding friendship online outside of the usual haunts, like Twitter and Facebook. Can you find a friend on Reddit? Can you find a friend on Discord? There are other options, but that’s up to you.
Also, I talk about the episode I, Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation and the last few episodes of Cobra Kai and how they relate to the current world and making friends. Sometimes you need to step outside of the collective and see the similarities behind the differences with each other.
As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Quarantine induced loneliness solution? Surprised if it does not speed up the development of full immersion virtual reality, with all the benefits and difficulties that such a technology will bring us.
Valentine’s Day reservations were made months ago. But arranged for around lunch is a range day for bronies. Come on down if you’re comfortable with the idea, as everyone must assess their individual risk tolerance.
Quasi lockdown situation allows for those who are remaining at home, but have internet connection and necessary subscriptions, the time to go through media which is new to that individual or that has not been seen for many years. That media could have been audio visual or text.
As a villian, as a concept, the Borg were a great antagonist. That said, it can be argued that their villainous potential were later watered down. Centralizing authority into a single figure, creating secret subcollectives, removing uniformity, all which diluted the hive mind concept.
Casting people into the other can allow for some dehuminization thus making it easier to assign percieved negative characteristics to them. This makes it easier to villianise them, and to create excuses/justifications to defend one self against percieved villianise threats and detrimental actions.
In a community which I am a part of there is suppose to be a guideline of assumption of good faith. That another member of the communities actions, even if one might disagree with the action, is done in what they believe is an act towards a good/positive outcome. Unfortunately, based on my experiences, what occurs is ostrazation and actions which make remaining difficult ( if not outright banning of ) community members of a certain minority based on that minorities political opinions. This leads to an unbalancing of the community and creation of outcomes which trend to coincide with the communities new center with the removal or diminishing of that minority. Yet based on the guideline one has to consider that their actions which are negative towards that minority, is thought to be for the best interest of the overall community. It’s an unfortunate state of affairs, one which was written about relatively recently in TheCritic ( https://thecritic.co.uk/the-left-wing-bias-of-wikipedia/ ).
Another community which I am apart of is far more accepting of diversity of backgrounds and opinions. That community focused its energies on those interest which the community members shared in common, and when differences were brought up, the communities central ethos helped smooth over any interpersonal conflicts and increase tolerance of differences. I was quoted about it in this student publication ( http://thedailyaztec.com/87434/artsandculture/socal-bronies-gallop-to-sdsu/ ).
