Welcome to the Online Friend Simulator. Because everyone could use a friend, even online. I’m Francis aka The Other Guy.

How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. Time to step away from the frustration of the outside world and go back in time. I talk about how I’m actually an introvert and how I have no idea what I’m doing, but when I do find myself in a situation where I need to talk, I focus on engagement. So how do you engage? Other than taking it up to Warp 4…heheheh…

Ask questions. Is it a skill to ask questions? Does it come naturally? I don’t know, because I just thought about these questions now and I should have added them to the show. I hope I make sense. If I don’t, ask me some questions!

As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

  1. New season of Blue Bloods. Highly recommend Star Trek Lower Decks; IMHO it is the best Trek made since the end of Voyager.

When WonderCon and/or Comic-con come around, you can always propose a panel.
The host of the WonderCon fulfillment room usually dresses up as Guinan, and see the room as her Ten Forward, and that attracts Trekkies who normally attend the August Trekkie convention. I still have yet to go to that convention.

For memory, it’s amazing what is retained, and what are jettisoned. If we are but the collection of memories and the resulting sum, what is jettisoned, is as important as what is retained.

You can get cancelled on your own website? Or that no web server would host you?

Friendship the Hiding, a la Hunter the Reckoning. What a sad reflection on our civic society. In the past there was the red scare, and that resulted in the rise of McCarthyism from the Right, where if one was seen as tied to anything left of the political center, they would be removed from civil society. If cancel culture we are now experiencing is tied to the woke Left (James Lindsay refers to it as Marxism 4.0), than the pendulum has swung all the way to the other side. Here is hoping it doesn’t remain at the extreme for too long, least the pendulum fall on any of us. Here is hoping we can all be civil and kind to one another, especially with those who don’t share one’s own views and beliefs.

In other news Wikipedia turned 20 years old on the 20th of January 2021. It was hosted by Bomis.com and the first server it was on was registered to an address in Pacific Beach, San Diego, California. The two floor office building where that server was in, has recently been knocked down, and will be replaced with a three floor mixed use commercial residential building.
