Welcome to the Online Friend Simulator. Because everyone could use a friend, even online. I’m Francis aka The Other Guy.

How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. This is the final recorded episode of 2020, and it’s more or less like every other episode. I reminisce about the past year, a little. Then I mostly talk about how maybe we do need a sanctuary where we can find a friend who will not look at us in a single dimension. Because the hardships aren’t over, and we will need each other, and hopefully the Online Friend Simulator can help in the upcoming year.

Though this is the final recorded episode of 2020, there are two live episodes coming to you this Christmas and this New Year, so check it out, and maybe we can hang out and keep each other company during the holiday season.

As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening. Please leave a review on Apple Podcasts or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

  1. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and looking forward to a healthy peaceful prosperous new year.
Depressing, sad? Oh no! What happened?
Every relationship is a work of the people involved in it, it is not always easy, but if those involved value it they will work through the rough patches.
I have written this elsewhere, so I will be consistent. Each person must assess their own personal risk tolerance, and take precautions accordingly. Others should respect those with lower risk tolerance, and act accordingly, while living their life, by not endangering others with a lower risk tolerance. That said, one should not damage the liberty of others by forcing their lower risk tolerance, their own lifestyle choice, on others. The latter seems to have been forgotten.
Should we back you up on your self assessment that you’re a terrible friend? No, I think not, as we may not share the same assessment. But everyone must seek to know their flaws, often one of the hardest things in life, and work to improve upon those things or compensate for them.
Confirmation bias is strong. So strong centuries old news sources are blocked. And a few dozen anonymous persons will deem professionally written news as unreliable sources, while sing the praises of other news as reliable sources cause they align with their confirmation bias even though that source also has well documented errors mistakes and omissions.
Neutrality, unbiasness, is difficult. Sometimes it is like raising a straight pole, where if all sides push equally as hard it will end up straight up. However, if not all push equally as hard towards the center, or worse some sides are stopped from being able to push towards the center, than the pole will not end up straight.
Is conflict, struggle, natural to human nature? If not against other people, against insubstantial things about ones self?
A now dead person once asked when witnessing an event which was instigated by a miscarriage of justice which was done upon him, and gave us Rooftop Koreans, “Can’t we all just get along?” For a moment, after a tragedy which killed +3k people at a single moment nearly two decades ago the tragedy pulled a people, a nation, multiple nations, together; yet in a few months that feeling of unity had dissipated to return to the familiar ranker and partisanship.
    Is life a wave function?
Please, don’t stop. Continue to be a beacon in the difficult turbulent storm of life.

    Belated Merry Christmas.
We spent it with my siblings in Nevada.
Lechon for Christmas meal as a tradition? Nice. I am envious.
Perhaps at Freffcon, we can have a lechon for a meal? Perhaps for the wedding reception,
My mom’s side was more likely to have a family get together than my father’s side. Pot luck meals, followed by video games for the kids, or gambling and/or light adult beverages, for the adults was the norm.
More recently a tradition addition for the Christmas meal has been some KFC chicken, just like what is done in Japan. Before my mother-in-law passed away, we use to get a new hallmark ornament each year. As of 2020, it’s been 13 years since we bought a new Christmas ornament.
I must good Dr. Who. I miss great Star Trek, but Lower Decks has shown promise, and await a season 2
    Condolences for your loss.
Shout out to Isaiah of Shoot Las Vegas! A great range officer.
My understanding is that in the Philippine Islands, Christmas season encompasses the ‘ber months, thus it can start at the beginning of September. That said, here in the States, Black Friday is a clear start of the season.
    Did you ever do Sibangabi?
The repetition of the 24 hours news cycle and that the majority is just filled with reactionary commentary of the current events, it does not calm the partisan angst.
An annoying YouTube add for me is that Squanch soup and shampoo. But better than some adds that I am subjected to on iheartradio.
    Merry Christmas Martha.

Relistening to the live stream three days after the fact to comment on the content
Content starts at 5:53 on twitch replay
Hello to the drummer boy and the drummer wife!
    Howdy Josh, Anthony, & Lee.
Horny streamers. People are locked down. We are social creatures, and some must miss the touch of another person. Perhaps that is behind the vocalization of that frustration.
🤞that 2021 is not worse than 2020, but I won’t hold my breath that it will be better.
