Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.

We’re all trying to find happiness, and I think a part of our journey to being happy is learning from our mistakes. And a byproduct of our mistakes I think, is regret. So this is just a quick entry on regret. I realize that some people say you’re not supposed to regret anything in your life, that everything happens for a reason. But if that’s the case, how do we learn anything? I mean, you shouldn’t regret stuff forever, but isn’t that feeling a sign that you at least cared enough about the situation that you wish it didn’t turn out that way? I think that with regret you will approach the next time something like that happens differently and with a new set of eyes.

For instance. You regret hurting someone’s feelings, or better yet, lying to them for no reason. Don’t tell me that you shouldn’t regret it if you know you did wrong. Otherwise, I think, you’ll feel justified to do it the next time or at least think that its okay to do it the next time. But you can’t regret it forever, the guilt you feel is supposed to be a learning tool, not a form of torture. I only bring this up because I’m still learning from my past transgressions and still trying to be better.

Wow…that all was a buzz kill. I can only hope we all are at least trying to be better people. That’s why I talk about it, because man…its tough to be a better person.
