Real Life Gets In the Way

Look at the people around you. Each one has their own life, with its own problems, romances, and complications. If you really stop to think about it, that’s kind of a woah moment. You don’t realize that yeah, you have your family and friends and you’re involved in their lives and are the extras and supporting cast of the movie of your life, but that you are essentially the extras in a strangers life and the supporting cast in your friends and family’s lives. Is that a lot to take in? Its easy to get absorbed in our lives and problems, and we have every right to do so, and we’ll forget that their are other people in the world. Billions of them apparently.

But when we can find a moment when our problems aren’t so bad, or things are really good to look at the people around us and the bigger picture. I think that’s the fun part about people watching because you never know who that person you’re watching will be become or already is. Maybe they’re a celebrity, or an internet sensation, or maybe that’s you and you’re chuckling at the idea that everyone is staring at you. Whatever it may be, its just kind of neat to look at others and know that they’re where they are for a totally different reason than yours for standing where you are. Is that confusing?

Finally, I don’t read a lot of other people’s personal blogs, but blogs are an extension of the above idea. We blog to give our interpretation and our feelings about the life we’re living. Unlike people watching, we give you a little window into our lives, and you are the audience to our little movie. But the strange thing I’ve noticed about said blogs is that there are days in between posts, weeks, and maybe even months. Do people come back after all that time. If I stopped writing for a few days, weeks, or months, would people be interested enough in the story of a lowly geek, gamer, amateur podcaster, observer, to want to come back and find out what happened? I’d like to think so, but maybe I’m wrong.

We all want to leave our mark in the world one way or another, and that’s why I blog and podcast. I want there to be something of me out there that people can see and listen to and relate to. Even if its one person, its cool to know that you reached someone out there, with your thoughts and your words.
