Do we need real life friends, or can the likes and retweets of the internet enough?
Welcome to the Online Friend Simulator. Because everyone could use a friend, even online. I’m Francis aka The Other Guy.
How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. Thanks for being patient as life takes me away from recording shows. This time around I talk about Ron’s Gone Wrong, a cartoon about a robot that was built to be your best friend. The movie has no real focus or moral to the story, but boy does it reflect real life, and what we consider actual friendship.
As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

1.st off, seeking validation isn’t nessarally wrong. We all do it in some way, some are a bit more egotistical about it. Seeking validation allows someone to confirm their identity and self worth, but when it comes to the point where it’s insincere or not genuine you can tell that a person is doing what they are doing with an ulterior motive or they just want to put on airs.
2nd. I do agree with you to a point about social media, we do need less of it. We all need to learn how to make connections with people without the use of a phone or an electronic gadget on us or by us. Because of social media, we’ve lost the art of “public speaking” & even cordial small talk. However, as you stated & have stated in many of your podcasts, the Internet in general has allowed people to connect with people that they would have never met with because of their different circumstances and/or social skills. In away, the Internet is a God send….but it’s a stumbling block at the same time.
The internet is another tool. How we use it will determine whether it has positively or negatively impacted others, or our self.

Life happens, we will be here once life allows
Medical stuff? Surely you don’t wanna get into it here, but hope you are recovering well.
Will long distance relationships be easier, more common, when virtual reality becomes more common/prevalent?
More societal polarization. Unfortunately nothing that we will be able to solve ourselves.
People can be mean and cruel. Children are just inexperienced little people.
We all seek validation, meaning and/or purpose of one’s existence. As we get older most of us seek to have a lasting legacy, a way to be remembered to exist after mortality has ended our consciousness. In a way your podcasts and co hosting does both.
Individually we are the product of both validation and legacy of the many generations that we are descended from. Thus why the fictional story of Saving Private Ryan can be relatable to any one watching.
I support/agree with you on the topic around 44:00.
Thanks for carving put some time in your life to fo these podcasts and reading our comments.
