So take a listen, and share with a friend and I appreciate you still hanging out with me on the Simulator.

  1. FIRST!!!!! 😀

Anyway, I just thought I’d comment a few things about survival of the fittest. As far as if we’ve gotten smarter or dumber, you have to think about what Forrest Gump said: “Stupid is as stupid does.” If you act stupid then you’ll be stupid…..but if you act smart, then you’ll be smart. As far as us as a society craving knowledge, yes knowledge is readily & openly available….but most people don’t want to use the Internet as a tool to get that knowledge & the gift of asking the basic questions: “Who, What, When, Where, & Why?” has been lost forever because now the answer for everything seems to be “Google It.” Sadly if most people don’t know something & just don’t want to have an intelligent & open ended conversation the catch all answer to everything is: “Google It”

2nd. As far as people taking or not taking risks anymore…..most people on a majority don’t. It’s very easy when things are practically given to you either by the government, a charity, or some kind of get rich quick scam. People like myself, who have multiple health issues…..HAVE TO fight for everything, & that includes fighting for their own dreams. Most people will never take a risk to make things better until they are truly rock bottom OR if their own happiness is at risk.

That’s all that I have to really say about this topic,

    新年快樂
    Gong hei fat choy (恭喜发财)

This past weekend we laid to rest my maternal grandmother/Lola, who died 4 months short of her 100th birthday. The funeral brought together some family who hadn’t seen each other in 19 years, when her husband, our Grandfather/Lolo passed away. She was born a US National, lost that status due to change of law, survived World War 2 including the Japanese Occupation, married and raised 6 children all of who immigrated to the United States and naturalized. With her passing she takes with her all the un shared memories and recipes. With her passing her legacy gathered around to show one last sign of respect and care of her.
If you have the good fortune to still have older members of your family, take the time to interview them. Have the long conversation with open ended questions about their life, experiences, and thoughts. Save that, and share it with others, so their lives continue beyond them.
On opportunity, risk verse rewards, and fear of the unknowns. I am faced with this myself. Do I remain with the familiar including all the unpleasant parts. Or take the risk and the potential of other type of personal growth and potential relative wealth beyond what is currently achieved? Only time will tell what path my life takes.
Some say luck is planning and preparation coupled with grasping opportunity.
Growth is a type of change, as such change can be uncomfortable. Some are frozen by anxiety by an amount of change which differs from individual to individual, to the point where the anxiety is a palpable fear. Most of our society have become accustomed to a certain level of comfort. Departing that comfortable state of the known can be difficult, after all the law of entropy.
When everyone thinks they are absolutely right, then everyone else must be absolutely wrong. No one wants to back down as it means admitting to be wrong or being weak willed compared to others. Discord.
There needs to be room for change, but at what pace, towards what end?
Perhaps all that is written or said or made will be lost in the sands of time. But what is not lost, what will those who find it in the distant future infer of us?

    1. 1st thing, so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. It sounds like she had a full & long life who had an impact on many generations of your family.

I do have to question you about something that you said: ” When everyone thinks they are absolutely right, then everyone else must be absolutely wrong. No one wants to back down as it means admitting to be wrong or being weak willed compared to others. Discord.”

Wouldn’t this be what the Borg on Star Trek The Next Generation would call “resistance”?

I’m asking this because I am in some situations in my life where there is A LOT of resistance, some seen & some unseen. It all came from the recent official ending of 2 family businesses…that should have been & could have been very successful, inter family drama, ongoing health issues on my part, & egos from my family members laced with narcistic tendencies.

Dealing with all that I have to deal with is like dealing with very small victories that are intertwined with periods of stagnant growth & the overwhelming attitude of “damned if you do, & damned if you don’t”
