Male…Period

Image: akeeris / FreeDigitalPhotos.netEver since I hit puberty, I can remember days in my life that I just couldn’t explain. They were days where I was overly emotional, and overly sensitive. Now, maybe this isn’t news to anyone, but to me it was, and I learned early on in life that men are just as emotional as women, and there are days when it’s just hard to keep sane and your feelings and sexual urges and whatnot go haywire! Yep, I’m talking about the male period.

Now, as far as I know, and I’ve tried to do research, but men go through the same kind of hormonal cycles that women do. So they get all of the cool hormonal imbalance without any of the bleeding and cramps. Another reason why men have it easier than women. And I did my best to scour the internet for more details on this, but really, I keep coming up short. Honestly, I have very little in the way of information on the male period other than I’ve experienced it and there are blogs out there that talk about it and say it’s real.

So why bring it up now? Well, I think a lot of couples have misunderstandings when it comes to this time of the month. Men use it as an excuse for women having an attitude, and women use it as an exuse for women having an attitude. It’s like the end all answer to why a person is a bitch. Well, now if you want to know why men can be uncharacteristically a jerk, now you know.

Much like women, men will go through a routine of this hormone doing that thing and the other, and there will be a time of the month where testosterone is higher and/or lower, and the body and mind react. Now, my only real back up for this being a legitimate thing is that I did learn some of this is my psychology classes. I don’t know how much that’s worth as it was about a decade ago, but hell, if no new difinitive research has been made, then I’m going to stick to this theory!!

If you think about it, it may be the cause for being overly sad, or incredibly horny, or losing your sex drive all together. It’s like a mosh pit of hormones that try to fight for dominance a few days out of the month. Again, not as serious or “severe” as what women go through, but I hope this shows the ladies that men have a TINY bit of an idea of what they go through every month. It’s not much, but it’ll have to do. So, next time ladies, and gents, when your boyfriend is acting out of the ordinary, it may just be his male period. I know I experience it. Do you?
