Day 24 – Comikaze Day 1 at Night!

I’m going to give a little disclaimer here. I am sick. So when I went to the Comikaze in hopes of getting into it, and all that good stuff, I found it difficult, as I do, and did, actually feel sick. And of course, this is day one of both sickness and the Comikaze, but I intend to endure, and give you a brief write up of the first day at the convention!

Halloween is in full swing right outside the Los Angeles Convention Center, with cosplayers, and children dressed up in some of the most elaborate costumes out there. The inside was fairly sparse with people, where getting my press and regular badges were a piece of cake. With the small crowd, I quickly set up my little rig made up of a selfie stick, my phone, and a microphone. With that, I was ready to do a brief introduction at the entrance of the convention and a quick video of the deceptively large showroom floor.

After twenty minutes of video taping and walking, I was only halfway done, and I was getting tired. The illness was slowly kicking my butt. The entire showroom was humongous with vendors a plenty and artists, cosplayers, and those awesome, geeky organizations all over the place. It was really nice to be at a convention and not feel crowded. There were small groups of people here and there, but really, the first day was for the hardcore, and not there for the Laker game.

After getting my bearings on the floor, I decided to hunt down the rooms I’d be going to for the panels tomorrow. Again, without the crowds, I was able to navigate everywhere and get the lay of the land, and the following is what I’ve learned.

The showroom floor is going to be awesome the next few days because there was a ton of space to move around. No rubbing up against people uncomfortably, just to get to where you want to be. The conference rooms seemed easy to get to, which is a plus, and well, there was food EVERYWHERE! I may be having a brain fart, but I don’t remember the other conventions I went to having access to that much food. Something tells me, I just didn’t notice though.

Overall an informative evening. I’ll be getting the video up soon for all of you to see, and I hope that when I wake up in the morning, I’ll be feeling a million times to better so I can attend the rest of Comikaze. I sure wish I had someone go with me on this thing. Whew.
