Welcome to the Online Friend Simulator. Because everyone could use a friend, even online. I’m Francis aka The Other Guy.

How are you doing? I hope you’re doing well. This time around, I get a topic recommendation from Anthony on my Twitter. The question is if the fear of rejection is a rational or irrational fear. I can see why people would see it as being either rational or irrational. We don’t like rejection and we would probably avoid it if we can.

Is the fear justified? Isn’t fear just our way of surviving life? So should we even try to get that job, go on that date, or make that friend? Let’s find out, together.

As always, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for listening. Please leave a review on Apple Podcasts or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

  1. There are a few things I have to say about the topic of fear & particularly the fear of rejection.

Out of ALL the things that I deal with, I honestly don’t know why fear….especially fear of rejection, but fear in general, is the 1 thing other than my ongoing health issues that tend to effect my mentally, & digestively. Yeah….fear gives me heartburn, indigestion, it messes with my bowels, it does havoc with my blood sugar levels & puts them on a rampant roller coaster that I wish would just stop. I don’t like fear, & in many ways I’m scared of fear…& it bothers me!!!!

You would think that at 46yrs old I could handle my emotions & digestive system much better than I can. Sometimes I can, because I have to. In order for me to be healthy and not let my diabetes take control of me in a negative manner, I have to control my emotions so that they don’t wreck havoc with my somewhat faltering endocrine system.

Many times I can’t though, especially when I’m under a lot of stress…..& in situations that I can’t seem to control which I seem to be in my life right now.

The 2 biggest sayings that tend to help me when it comes to dealing with fear is: “The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.” from JFK & even the Bible & “Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.”(Yoda)

So in many ways like I said, I hate fear!!!! I hate it with a passion!!!! Especially when I know that I might get rejected or be put into a situation where I can’t “control” things to where I won’t be hurt so bad.

As far as the quote from JFK….fear is the ONLY thing that I should worry about!!! It’s the ONLY thing that should drive me: mentally, emotionally, & physically.

As far as fear driving me to the Dark Side…..I can tell you that in many cases, & even in the situations I’m dealing with now…..fear is driving me to the “Dark Side”. I have fear of the unknown situations in my upcoming live, anger towards different people & situations, & constant suffering of indigestion & heartburn & sporadic blood sugar levels from all the things that I’m currently dealing with or could deal with in my unknown situations.

Would I say that my fear is rational? Hell Yes it is!!!! It’s VERY rational!!!! Is some of it irrational? It could be, but ONLY if I let it be. The best anyone can do is deal with their stresses in their lives to the best of their abilities & take every moment as it comes along.

  2. Turn Turn Turn The Byrds

    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

    To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
    To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together
    To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing
    To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late
